Our hosting is Linux-based, so your home directory is the entire directory which includes your 'public_html' and 'www' folders.
On the server, it is known as '/home/yourusername/'.
Remove Files From Your Home Directory
For web developers and administrators, the relocation and removal of files/folders is a task that likely occurs on a daily basis but can also be the cause of multiple website issues. The list below shows all the default folders of your home directory that should not be altered.
The removal, misplacement or relocation of these files can result in many issues, including 404 errors, disruption of email, a misbehaving control panel, and more.
Note: when managing files on the server, it is always recommended that you create a full directory backup and save it to your computer before altering or removing anything.
These folders are listed in the cPanel home directory by default and should generally not be altered:
